Our vineyards are carefully tended and primed year-round by an artisanal team of agronomical engineers, oenologists and expert winemakers. Our quality grapes are then carefully hand harvested at their peak maturity and optimum tannin levels.
The location of our vineyards in the Cuadro Benegas district of San Rafael presents truly ideal growing conditions for the cultivation of red grape varietals. Warm temperatures during the day and cool at night bring complexity to the resulting perfectly ripened fruit, while the benefit of dry clay and sandy soil, rich in minerals, reduces complications with mold that can attack the grapes in an otherwise humid environment. But perhaps most notable is the benefit received by our unique position between two rivers, the Diamante and the Atuel, which deliver fresh and unpolluted water from the glacial Andes.
Algodon Wine Estates' 325 acres of vines include over 60 acres that have been cultivated since the 1940s, and approximately 20 acres since the 1960s. The estate produces eight varieties of grapes, including Argentina’s signature varietals Malbec and Bonarda, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Semillon.
